How To R&D Hacking Toys for Fun and No Profit
This presentation wants to be a motivational talk for all those hackers out there that wanna share some cool devices with the community but don’t know how. In this talk, I will present the entire lifecycle of couple of hacking toys I developed: WHID Injector & WHID Elite. From their inception to release in production, passing through some blockers and failures I encountered during my journey.
Since my childhood, I am used to R&D my own electronic devices. At the beginning were simple educational stuff. Then, while growing up, I turned this passion into something that helps me during my offensive engagements at work. In this talk, I will present the entire lifecycle of couple of hacking toys I developed: WHID Injector & WHID Elite. From their inception to release in production, passing through some blockers and failures I encountered during my journey. Why is interesting this topic, you would ask… Easy! Both R&D processes, that brought them to life, were not backed by any crowdsourcing fund and the sale of these devices is not going in any form to me. I am just doing this as hobby, fun and (most importantly) I believe in giving back something to the InfoSec community without making any profit out of it. What about listening how I did and trying yourself? :) Of course, during the talk, there will still be technical parts and demo about the newest WHID Elite and how to explode a Industrial Toxins Plant with it. And also a new piece of hardware I started to work on: POTAEbox. ;]
