Designing for Telecom Security

Telecommunication networks will undergo a transformation with the introduction of 5G including support for novel use cases, new business models, and new deployment models. Consequently, telecommunications networks will be exposure to new threats that need to be identified and analyzed in context to understand the associated risk. This is a challenge that is facing telecom operators and vendors alike. Operators need to understand the threat model in order to make targeted security decisions. Similarly, vendors need a methodological and structured way to address security risks and threats when developing new features and products to mitigate risks.

Both need threat modelling in their designs. Threat modelling in telecommunication industry is much needed specially with the increase in the number of attacks on the telecommunications infrastructure. In this talk we will present our views on how to threat model in telecommunications environments to design more secure product or networks.
