An Introduction to Space Systems Security Engineering (One-Day Training - Only on Tuesday!)
Space systems constitute part of our critical infrastructure, and their security protection is essential. However, not much are known in security community about their specificities, and what security measures are appropriate for their protection. In this training, attendees will learn about the architecture of the space systems, the security threats they face, the space-specific protocols used at communication links and on-board the spacecrafts, architectural trade-offs and challenges, as well as what is changing with the New Space approach and space commercialisation. This training is for security engineers that work or envisage to work for space industry, students, or security researchers that would like to work on space problems.
Draft outline: - Space systems architecture (at system and segments level) - Threats against space systems - Protection of communication links. CCSDS protocols and related crypto versus types of missions. Common pitfalls and vulnerabilities - space segment architecture. Space OSes and protections. Data handling network protocols. Security issues and challenges. Demonstration/challenge
